Current Redevelopment Projects

210 Maryland Park Drive
This project will create a luxury flagship development within walking distance to the Capitol Heights Metro Station. The RDA, in partnership with Community First Development Corporation, will construct market rate multifamily residential units, some for sale town homes, and street level retail space on the four acre site. The project is currently in the pre-development stage.

3300 Block of Rhode Island Avenue
The Menkiti Group was selected the developer of this block of three small abandoned commercial buildings in Mount Rainier, MD. The proposed development consists of 12 residential units, a café operated by Joe Englert, an Annie’s Ace Hardware Store, and office space for Recreative Spaces. Construction is anticipated to begin the Summer of 2016.

This 2.4 acre site offers excellent accessibility and visibility along the Rhode Island Avenue corridor in the Town of Brentwood. With dramatic topography and mixed use zoning, this property is ideally suited to support residential development above ground retail uses. This redevelopment will support the objectives articulated in the Gateway Arts District and Brentwood plans completed by the Maryland National Park and Planning Commission.

Glenarden Apartments
Pennrose Properties, LLC, along with B&W Solutions, Inc., and the First Baptist Church of Glenarden have teamed up to develop a 425 unit, mixed income community which will consist of senior apartments, family styled apartments and duplexes and for sale townhouses. Grading and site work are anticipated to begin in 2016 with the construction of the first Phase anticipated in 2017.

Point at Cheverly
This 2.85 acre site near the junction of Route 202 and Route 450, offers stunning views of the nation’s capital. The RDA is working with the Maryland National Park and Planning Commission to determine viable alternative uses for the site. A date has not yet been determined for the future disposition of the property.

Prince George's African American Museum & Cultural Center 
The Redevelopment Authority is providing funding for the design of Phase II of the Prince George’s African American Museum and Cultural Center (PGAAMCC).

Studio 3807
The Redevelopment Authority selected Landex as the developer for 3807 Rhode Island Avenue. The project is located on one of the prime retail sites within the Town of Brentwood and the Gateway Arts District. The redevelopment plan includes demolishing the three existing vacant buildings and replacing them with a mixed use building with 6,000 square feet of commercial and retail space on the ground floor and 147 residential units on the upper floors. The project is expected to break ground in the Spring of 2016.
