Holiday-Related Stress

Feeling stressed about the holidays? Don't worry! Here are some simple tips to help you relax.

  • Make a worry list
Take some time to write down everything on your mind - things you need to do, things you wish you had done, and anything that's bothering you. Then, either come up with a plan to address each concern or cross it off and let it go.
  • Eat well and stay hydrated
Choose water and high-fiber foods like fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains. Avoid sugary, salty, or caffeinated snacks, as they can increase stress levels. Take 15 or 20 minutes to enjoy a small meal without any distractions.
  • Exercise
Physical activity triggers your body's natural anti-anxiety hormones and releases feel-good endorphins. It's a great way to calm your mind and boost your mood.
  • Get a massage
Treat yourself to a massage to reduce blood pressure, improve circulation, and relax tense muscles. Massages can also prompt the release of endorphins, making you feel even better.
  • Brush your skin
Stimulate your skin with a back brush or loofah during a warm shower. This can help decrease muscle tension and induce relaxation by activating thousands of nerve-end fibers in your skin.
  • Deep-belly breathing
Lie on your back with your eyes closed and gently place your hands on your belly. Inhale and exhale, feeling your belly expand and contract. Visualize your navel and spine meeting. Repeat until you drift off into a peaceful sleep.
