The lawyers and staff in the Office of the State’s Attorney are responsible for prosecuting people who are accused of committing crimes in Prince George’s County. Without prosecutors, every single person accused of a crime would go free. The main role of a prosecutor is to ensure that justice is done for the victims of crime as well as the community at large. During a trial, prosecutors must persuade a judge or a jury beyond a reasonable doubt that the person accused of committing the crime is guilty.
