Mr. Anthony C. Bennett, MPA, CIG, CIGI is the Inspector General and Director for the Office of Integrity, Compliance, and Police Accountability for Prince George’s County, Maryland. Mr. Bennett accepted the call to proudly serve Prince George’s County in February 2023. As the Inspector General, Anthony is charged with providing independent, strong, and effective oversight of the operations of the Prince George’s County Public Safety units.

Mr. Bennett comes from a background that extensively expands through the public sector. In his previous role as the Deputy Inspector General for the City of Atlanta, Mr. Bennett assisted in creating the city’s Office of the Inspector General from the ground up and serving in an executive capacity relative to all daily activities. His primary tasks included overseeing all fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement investigations against city employees, elected and appointed officials, and vendors doing business with the city, the Atlanta Watershed Department, and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Before his role as Deputy Inspector General for the City of Atlanta, he served the citizens of Palm Beach County, Florida, as the Manager of Investigations and Accreditation Manager for the Palm Beach County Office of Inspector General. His responsibilities included supervising OIG investigators, maintaining the office’s accreditation standards and overall compliance issues, and initiating and coordinating investigations to prevent fraud and other abuses in county government.

Mr. Bennett also served the citizens of Palm Beach County as Chief of Investigations for the Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics leading a team of investigators and investigating potential violations of the County’s Code of Ethics that may have been committed by public officials, county and municipal employees and vendors doing business with the county.  

Prior to that, Mr. Bennett served the citizens of Broward County Florida as a certified law enforcement and corrections deputy within the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, rising through the ranks from Deputy Sheriff to the agency’s Executive Officer and Ombudsman. 

Mr. Bennett is a United States Army veteran who served our country during the Gulf War, Operation Desert Storm.  

Anthony holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Lynn University and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Central Florida. His licenses, certifications, and honorable mentions are extensive and speak to the nature of his career track and experience. In his private time, Anthony is a devoted family man.  He has been married to his wife for over twenty years and together they have three children.

Anthony C. Bennett comes to Prince George’s County with a litany of experience in law enforcement and investigations. He is ready to proactively serve the public in the role for which he was hired.
