Bureau of Court Services
The Assistant Sheriff, Bureau of Court Services, is an executive level position under the direct leadership of the Chief Assistant Sheriff. The Assistant Sheriff for this Bureau is responsible for overseeing the security of the courts, transportation of prisoners, and the functions of the Community Partnerships Section.
Building Security Services
Provides security for the Prince George’s County Courthouse and is conducts a security screening on all persons and items which enter the facility. Visitors are encouraged to refrain from bringing camera’s (unless authorized by the Chief Administrative Judge), weapons, and/or any item that may be considered dangerous into the courthouse. Visitors are not permitted to bring food/drink, or to use cellular phones in courtrooms.
Circuit Court Division
Responsible for maintaining a secure environment for all circuit court cases conducted at the Prince George’s County Justice Center. Sheriff’s deputies work with judges, attorneys, defendants, and other court participants to ensure safe court proceedings.
Deputies are also responsible for apprehending individuals with outstanding warrants, serving civil process, interviews petitioners for Court Ordered Emergency Petitions, and conducting investigations for disturbances in and around the Courthouse.

Provides valued and meaningful community service and support to citizens through programs such as:

Responsible for transporting prisoners from surrounding jurisdictions to and from Prince George’s County, MD, for court proceedings.

- D.A.R.E. Program: The Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program is a series of classroom lessons that emphasizes the importance of resisting peer pressure and avoiding the use or involvement with illegal substances.
- Deputy Sheriff Explorer’s Program: The Explorers program provides educational, competitive and recreational activities to students and adults, in an attempt to broaden their knowledge of the law enforcement profession
- D.A.Y Corps: Provides guidance, advice and mentor-ship to students in eight middle schools in Prince George’s County. The program also conducts a Summer Youth Camp.
