Certification Letter
A certification letter is used to provide proof of a voter’s registration status and voter history.
While certification letters can be requested at any time, during an election year, the Board of Elections cannot process certification letters during periods when voter registration is closed.
Certification Letter Requirements
You must be an “Active” registered voter in Prince George’s County to receive a Certification letter. Certification letters contain the voter’s registration information that is currently in our database.
If your registration needs to be updated, you must complete a Voter Registration Application at the time you request the Certification letter.
All Certification Letters must be requested in person by the voter.
If a voter is unable to appear in person, they can authorize an individual to pick up the letter. The authorized individual must provide:
A letter giving the individual permission to pick up the certification letter with the voter’s original signature
A photocopy of the voter’s photo ID (Maryland driver’s license or non-driver’s license).
A photo ID showing they are the individual authorized by the voter to pick up the Certification letter.
A Certification Letter is $2 (Please bring exact amount)
Certification letters requested by cancelled voters are approved on a case-by-case basis.
Newly registered voters may not receive a Certification letter in person. All Certification letters for newly registered voters will be mailed to the voter’s address of record. Disclaimer: Voter registration is not complete in Maryland until you receive your Voter Notification Card. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks to receive a Voter Notification Card.
Request a Certification Letter
