REQUESTS FOR INFORMATION ON PREVIOUS DOMESTIC CASES OR TO CHECK THE STATUS OF AN ONGOING CASE

Please contact the Domestic Violence Unit at (301) 772-4433 to follow up or to receive information on domestic cases.

HOW TO GET A PROTECTIVE/RESTRAINING ORDER

You can file for a protective order Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm, at the District Court of Maryland in Hyattsville, 4990 Rhode Island Avenue, Hyattsville, MD, Room 200A or the District Court of Maryland in Upper Marlboro, 14735 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, MD, Room 168B. You can also file in the Circuit Court in Upper Marlboro, 14735 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, MD, Room M0415.

After normal business hours, you can file at the Commissioner’s Office at the Hyattsville Courthouse, 4990 Rhode Island Avenue, Hyattsville, MD, Room 100 or at the Upper Marlboro Detention Center, 13400 Dille Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD.

REPORTING VIOLATIONS OF A RESTRAINING ORDER/PROTECTIVE ORDER

Please call 911 to report injuries or if safety is a concern. If this is not an emergency, call the Public Safety Communications (PSC), non-emergency dispatch number at (301) 352-1200, option number 5 for police dispatch. To have new orders served, contact the Sheriff’s Office at (301) 780-8600.

REPORTING SERIOUS CUSTODY DISPUTES

Please call 911 to report injuries or if safety is a concern. If this is not an emergency, call the PSC non-emergency dispatch number at (301) 352-1200, option number 5 for police dispatch or the Sheriff’s Office at (301) 780-8660, if there is a violation of an order.

REQUESTS FOR POST-DOMESTIC SITUATIONS, FOR ASSISTANCE TO REMOVE PERSONAL PROPERTY FROM HOME
