Violation Process

If the County determines that code violations exist on the property, it will take all necessary enforcement actions to resolve the matter. This could include the issuance of a violation notice or civil citation to the property owner. The violation notice or citation would give the property owner a certain amount of time to correct the violations. Because this matter relates to private property, in cases such as these, the County must allow due process and an opportunity for the owner to correct the violations before moving forward with legal action. If the owner has not corrected the violations within the time provided, the County may take additional enforcement steps, including referring the matter for court action. In that case, the County may request a court order that directs the owner to correct the violation. That order would also give the County permission to enter the property to correct the violations, if the property owner does not cooperate.
