The Housing Development Division is responsible for managing the HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) Program, authorized under Title II of the Cranston-Gonzalez National Affordable Housing Act, as amended. Each year HUD allocates approximately $2 billion in HOME funding.
Notice of Funding Availability
DHCD will announce a competitive funding round in November 2021 for its multi-family development financing programs to support projects in conjunction with the Spring 2022 applications to the State of Maryland for projects seeking 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
DHCD will continue to accept other applications on a rolling basis contingent on funding availability and the project’s alignment with the County’s affordable housing goals.
Program funds are allocated to units of general local government, such as Prince George’s County, using a needs-based formula. HUD informs eligible jurisdictions of their annual entitlement allocation. Participating Jurisdictions (PJs), similar to Prince George’s County, must have a current, approved Consolidated Plan that defines housing needs and anticipated performance outcomes, as well as an approved Annual Action Plan that describes how the County plans to spend its HOME funds in any given year.
