Aspasia Xypolia

Aspasia Xypolia serves as the Director of the Department of Housing and Community Development in Prince George’s County, a position she has held since January 2021. In her current role, Aspasia leads the Department’s efforts to create and preserve, healthy and inclusive communities for all County residents by strengthening existing programs and launching innovative solutions and financial instruments which advances the County’s Economic Development Platform.

Prior to joining DHCD, Aspasia worked with leading non-profit development organizations where she collaborated and negotiated with diverse stakeholders, built consensus around common goals, and identified implementation strategies that resulted in the execution of successful development projects. This work led to the formation of strategic partnerships with government entities, private funders, and public lenders. Coupling these relationships with the analysis of regulatory requirements and programmatic objectives of federal and local subsidy programs led to the implementation of affordable, mixed-income, mixed-use, urban, and transit-oriented development projects in Massachusetts, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.

Aspasia holds a Master’s Degree in City Planning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master’s in Landscape Architecture from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Science from Athens University of Agriculture in Greece.
