Curbside Bulky Trash Removal
Curbside Bulky Trash Removal
Bulky Trash curbside collection is a service provided by Prince George’s County to remove oversized household items. Starting February 14, we’re rolling out a faster and improved curbside bulky trash collection pickup that will allow residents to set out two (2) bulky items or (2) two tightly secured bags per week with regular trash for pickup from the County provided trash hauler. Residents who do not receive County contracted collections services, and who only pay and receive bulky trash removal service, will still need to schedule an appointment via PGC311. White goods/large appliances or scrap tires will still need to be scheduled online through PGC311.
2. Why is the County offering curbside bulky collections alongside weekly scheduled trash?
Allowing residents to set out two items per week with regular trash will enable residents to dispose of unwanted items in a timelier manner, which reduces the wait time to dispose of Bulk items, and the temptation to improperly dispose of Bulky trash.
3. What is the County’s Clear the Curb Waste Collections Program?
The Clear the Curb Waste Collections includes all services offered to residents receiving County-contracted collection services or those who pay a fee for bulky trash removal. These services include regular trash, recycling, organics to include food scraps and yard trim, and the new, improved bulky trash collection program.
4. What if I have four (4) standard bulky items that need disposal?
You can only set out two (2) standard bulky items or two (2) bags of small household items NEXT to the trash cart each week on your regularly scheduled collection day until all items are serviced. All bulky items MUST BE NEXT TO THE TRASH CART or the hauler will not collect the items.
5. I left my bulky items at the curb but forgot to place them next to my trash cart, and it wasn’t collected?
For the hauler to know that the two (2) items left at the curb are included in the bulky trash collection, the resident must leave the items NEXT to the trash cart. That is the only way the hauler will know the items are to be collected. If the collection is missed, the resident can retry the collection the following week and remember to place the items in the correct area.
In addition, the hauler cannot remove items that are blocked by vehicles, for example, the items are placed on the County’s right of way and a car is parked parallel to the curb, blocking the items. The hauler cannot maneuver items around a vehicle, so items should be moved away from the car or the car moved to have direct access from curb to the truck.
6. I am expecting a collection for items that I am donating. How should I handle placing it at the curb?
For the hauler to not mistakenly pick up these items, assuming they are not for bulky trash, residents should place those items in another area and place a “DONATION” sign on those items.
7. Where can I find a list of acceptable and non-acceptable bulky trash items?
