Mission

The mission of the Special Projects Division (SPD), is to develop, organize, lead, and assist with the execution of Prince George’s County Government community initiatives and projects serving the community at-large.

To promote community stewardship internally and externally.

Special Projects Division, Project Chronology 

2019               Office of Community Relations, Special Projects Division established.

Jun-Aug 2019   Developed and managed the Clean County Cadet Program (CCCP), an                            environmental stewardship employment program offered to Prince George’s County Youth between the ages   of 14-22.

Sep 2019      Developed and launched the “Youth Speaks” initiative, a community-centric initiative designed to bridge the inter-generational communication gap between youth, adults, and government through “creative speak” in the art forms of poetry, rap, and song.

Jan 2020       Hosted kickoff event at the County Administration Building for Youth Speaks---“A Closed Mic Listening Party, “where Youth Poet Laurates from the Dialect of Prince George’s, performed community-centric poetry on crime, education, and climate change for elected officials and members of the community.

Jun 2020       Created and hosted “Youth Speaks Crisis Cooldown” as a virtual community event designed to provide youth with a creative vehicle to discuss social issues and to receive information and resources on how to engage and interact with law enforcement in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

Jul 2020 to present     Launched the “Safe Dates Digital Academy” in partnership with the Department of Family Services and Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), which is an initiative designed to provide outreach and access to resources for youth on how to build healthy relationships.

Sep 2020 to present    Developed and manage the Office of the County Executive’s Virtual and in-person Community Meeting Tours (Fall/Winter & Spring editions)

Nov 2021 to present    Manage Prince George’s County Government’s, United Way Combined Charities Campaign (CCC)

Nov 2022      Developed and hosted the first Student Government “SGA Day,” with County Executive Alsobrooks and the Prince George’s Regional Association of Student Governments, at Crossland High School
