Standards of Cover / Community Risk Assessment

This Standards of Cover and Community Risk Assessment Report serves as a comprehensive tool for the Prince George’s County Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department to analyze and implement the best deployment strategies to ensure adequate emergency response coverage for residents, businesses, and visitors of Prince George’s County, Maryland.  The culmination of this report was the result of a rigorous analysis of our community risks, departmental objectives, essential critical tasks, studies of distribution and concentration of fixed and mobile resources, reliability studies, and historical performance. This report was developed by Fitch and Associates Consultants, with the participation and collaboration of committed internal and external stakeholders.  The Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department is an “all-hazards” agency providing emergency medical response, fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, marine rescue, life safety inspections, fire and arson investigations, bomb and explosive response, and community level public life safety education.  As the Department strives to provide the highest quality services to protect the lives, property, and environment in our communities, this document assists us in ensuring the best strategies for a safe and effective response force for a variety of emergency and specialty situations.

Strategic Plan 2023-2028

The Prince George's County Fire & EMS Department's 2023-2028 Strategic Plan is a comprehensive roadmap that identifies the challenges and opportunities lying ahead, as well as the strengths and weaknesses the department expects to encounter in the coming years. This blueprint not only delineates our organizational landscape but also serves as a guiding framework, directing our efforts toward growth, community outreach, and operational enhancements. Developed through a collaborative approach, this Plan reflects a diversity of perspectives by integrating input from both the community and our dedicated staff. It builds upon the department's updated goals established during the September 2022 community strategic planning meeting, outlining the highest-priority initiatives crucial for excellence and continuous improvement over the 2023-2028 period.
