Cadet Program

The Police Cadet Program offers selected applicants the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in police work, while also earning an income and college credits towards an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice. The Department grants cadets administrative leave to attend classes.  Once the cadets complete the 2 ½-year program, they must then begin the process to become Prince George's County police officers. The program’s goal is to produce more experienced and mature police officers that are ready to serve and protect the residents of Prince George's County.

Our Police Cadet program is for high school graduates interested in a career as a Police Officer.  Police Cadets hold a full-time position with an annual salary starting at $31,200.  Police Cadets are required to attend an accredited college degree program, with a course load of up to three classes per semester, which are considered paid working hours.  If you are interested in the joining the Department and have what it takes to wear the badge, contact a Police Recruiter at (301) 780-8175 or Police_Recruiting@co.pg.md.us or scan the QR Code to visit the Recruiting page of the Prince George’s County Police Department’s website.
