FY 2026 Budget Listening Session
Acting County Executive Tara H. Jackson is hosting a budget listening session for Prince George's County residents to provide input as she develops the FY 2026 budget.
Why the Budget Process Matters to You
The County budget matters because it reflects the funding choices made by your government leaders. The budget is an important document that establishes County priorities through the allocation of County funds. Through the budget process, residents are informed of the taxes that will be paid to the government and the level of support for local services. Examples of local services include funding for:
- schools,
- libraries,
- police and fire departments,
- health,
- and social services.
How Can I Participate?
You can participate by attending and providing testimony at the budget listening sessions. The upcoming FY 2026 listening session will be held virtually on Zoom:
Thursday, February 13, 2025, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
All speakers will have three minutes to provide comments.
Spanish language interpretation will be available during the session.
Email Written Comments
Written comments can be submitted via email to OMB@co.pg.md.us until 5:00 pm on Monday, February 17, 2025.

Attending a Budget Listening Session
What it is: A public meeting where residents can share their concerns, priorities, or ideas directly with County officials and decision-makers.
How to join:
- Check the County's website or announcements for the date, time, and location (in-person or virtual).
- If it’s virtual, you’ll typically need to register online to receive a meeting link.
Prepare Your Input
- Think about issues or services that are important to you, your family, or your community. Examples include schools, transportation, public safety, or parks.
- Be specific. For example:
“We need more funding for after-school programs in [specific area].”
“The sidewalks near [specific street] need repair to improve safety.” - You can also suggest new ideas or ask for transparency in spending.
Speak at the Session
How to sign up: Most sessions have a process for signing up to speak (in advance or during the event). Look for instructions on the County’s website or at the meeting.
What to say:
- Start with your name and the area you live in.
- Clearly explain your concern, idea, or question within the time limit (usually 2-3 minutes).
Submit Written Comments
If you feel uncomfortable speaking or cannot attend, the County accepts written comments via email or online forms. Write a brief, clear message about your concerns or ideas and send it to the provided contact email or through the county’s budget portal.
