Prince George’s County Appoints Acting Director of the Office of Human Resources Management

LARGO, MD –  Prince George’s County has announced the appointment of Ms. Valerie A. Farrar as the Acting Director of the Office of Human Resources Management (OHRM). With more than 25 years of extensive human resources experience and deep institutional knowledge, Ms. Farrar is well-prepared to lead OHRM.

“We are excited to appoint Ms. Farrar to the role of Acting Director of our Office of Human Resources Management,” said Acting County Executive Tara H. Jackson. “With more than 25 years of experience, Ms. Farrar brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this role. I am confident that she will lead OHRM with integrity and a continued commitment to enhancing the workplace for all Prince George’s County Government employees.”

Previously serving as the Deputy Director of OHRM’s Office of Talent Management and Acquisition, Ms. Farrar played a key role in shaping the County’s talent strategy. Her contributions include advancing critical executive priorities such as reducing time-to-fill, overseeing the Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP), and managing countywide and Engineer Classification and Compensation studies.

“I am thrilled to step into the role of Acting Director of the Office of Human Resources Management,” says Acting Director Farrar. “With extensive experience in human resources, I am eager to collaborate with County leadership and our HR community to advance our agency’s initiatives."

Ms. Farrar holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Ms. Farrar began her new role as the Acting Director of OHRM on December 16, 2024.
