Charlynn Flaherty is the Associate Director of Public Safety Communications within Prince George’s County Maryland’s Office of Homeland Security. She is the PSAP Director for Prince George’s County 9-1-1.
She has worked in this capacity since 2001, when the County dispatch and 9-1-1 functions were unified under her leadership as a single Public Safety Communications entity.
Ms. Flaherty was promoted to this position after building and running the Prince George’s County False Alarm Reduction Unit and serving as the a Special Assistant to the Director of Public Safety. She started her career with Prince George’s County Government as an Information Specialist in the Police Department in 1990.
Prior to working for Prince George’s County, Ms. Flaherty worked for seven years for Lee Data Corporation as a large account Sales Engineer and Program Manager.
Ms. Flaherty received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Maryland University College and is a Certified Emergency Number Professional (ENP) through the National Emergency Number Association (NENA).
