Continuity of Operations Planning
Continuity of Operations Planning, or COOP ensures that vital day to day mission essential services of government will continue by all agencies in the event of an emergency or disaster. Because Prince George’s County is committed to responding to all types of threats, it is important that our critical operational functions continue under all circumstances. COOP provides our government agencies with a template on how to continue internal mission-critical operations when faced with interruptions. COOP planning is a continuous process and should be reviewed and updated as the Agency mission, functions and needs changed.
When COOP is Needed
Operational interruptions that may require COOP include:
- Acts of nature
- Fire
- Maintenance
- Mechanical equipment failure
- Renovations
- Severe weather
- Technology malfunction and/or other malfunctions
