Prince George's County Announces 2025 Summer Youth Enrichment Program

LARGO, MD – Prince George’s County is proud to announce the launch of the 2025 Summer Youth Enrichment Program (SYEP), a dynamic six-week workforce development initiative designed to equip young people with job skills, mentorship, and hands-on work experience. Open to county residents aged 14 to 24, the program runs from July 1 through August 8, 2025, offering participants the opportunity to earn while they learn and gain valuable exposure to career pathways in high-demand industries. 

“The Summer Youth Enrichment Program is more than just a summer job—it’s a stepping stone to future success,” said Acting County Executive Tara H. Jackson. “Through this initiative, we are empowering our young people with essential workplace skills, professional mentorship, and real-world experience that will set them up for long-term career growth. Investing in our youth today means strengthening our workforce and our community for years to come.” 

SYEP offers a comprehensive curriculum blending professional development workshops, job shadowing, and career exploration opportunities. Participants will enhance their communication, time management, teamwork, and problem-solving skills while working in industries such as healthcare, technology, government, and education. 

Key Program Features: 

  • Professional Development Workshops – Covering topics like resume writing, interview techniques, financial literacy, and workplace etiquette. 

  • Hands-On Work Experience – Job placements across public and private sectors to provide real-world experience. 

  • Mentorship Opportunities – Access to county professionals and community leaders offering guidance and career insights. 

  • Career Exploration – Site visits and guest speakers introduce participants to various career paths and educational opportunities. 

“Our youth are the future of Prince George’s County, and we are committed to providing them with meaningful opportunities to develop strong work ethics and professional skills,” added Acting County Executive Jackson. “This program not only opens doors to career exploration but also strengthens our local workforce by ensuring our young people are well-prepared for success.”
