LARGO, MD – To kick-off Pride Month 2024, Prince George’s County Executive Angela Alsobrooks is proud to announce the launch of a series of social media videos celebrating Pride Month. The videos feature County leadership and others throughout the community, emphasizing the importance of Pride Month and demonstrating the County’s collective support for the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Celebrating Pride Month in Prince George’s County is not just about honoring the vibrant history and contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community, but also about reaffirming our commitment to creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone,” said Alsobrooks. “We are proud to stand with our LGBTQIA+ neighbors, advocating for equality, respect, and dignity for all. By fostering a community where everyone feels valued and supported, we are building a stronger, more united Prince George’s County.”

“It is incredibly uplifting to have our County Executive foster a more inclusive Prince George’s County that affirms and supports the LGBTQIA+ community,” said Antonio Driver, Prince George’s County LGBTQIA+ Liaison. “Her dedication to equality and inclusion sets a powerful example and sends a clear message that everyone, regardless of their identity, is valued and respected here. This commitment not only strengthens our community but also inspires others to embrace diversity and advocate for the rights of all individuals.”

The new series of videos showcases heartfelt messages, personal reflections and other thoughts on the importance of Pride from leadership in the County Executive’s office, local business leaders, members of the faith community, and other community activists. They will be shared throughout the month on County social handles. The content series aims to raise awareness about the significance of Pride Month and highlight the ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for all LGBTQIA+ individuals in Prince George’s County.

This video series is one of several Pride Month activities planned to celebrate throughout June. The County Executive’s official Pride Month reception for government employees, community leaders, and students is scheduled for June 10th at the Wayne K Curry Administration Building.
