Mulch Madness

The Prince George's County Department of the Environment announces the return of our annual Mulch Madness giveaway event for County residents. This source reduction event will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 8 am to 1 pm and is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.  

• The event is for County residents only, please be prepared to provide proof of residency.
• All attendees and employees are encouraged to wear a face covering and follow social distancing guidelines.
• Residents must bring their own shovels, bags, and containers needed for loading/transporting mulch from dig-your-own locations, as well as their own tarps or other necessary equipment to cover/secure loads of mulch and compost in trucks and trailers.
• A skid loader will be available to load mulch directly into open truck beds
• Commercial entities and vehicles with commercial/business signage are prohibited.

Source reduction tip: Reduce water usage, prevent soil erosion, and reduce the use of herbicides in your home by applying mulch.
