DoE Green Summit 10/21

Join your Department of the Environment (DoE) for a day of family-friendly activities, tips, community service, exhibitors, food trucks, music, and fun at the 9th annual Green Summit! Register today at doesummit2023.eventbrite.com.

 

Bag it Right! DoE will be handing out FREE reusable bags (while supplies last) to help the public prepare for January 1, 2024, when all retailers throughout Prince George’s County will be prohibited from providing plastic bags to customers, with exceptions, and must charge at least ten cents for paper or reusable bags provided, with exceptions.

Help beautify the park! Attendees of all ages are encouraged to sign up to help remove invasive plants and pick up litter along trails or streams in Driskell Community Park. Projects for all ages. Students may earn service-learning hours. Volunteers MUST register with the City of Hyattsville.

Bring donations for our animal shelter! Gently used items help provide our adoptable pets with clean and comfortable spaces with enrichment to help their personality shine while they await their FUR-ever home. Accepted used items include:

• Cleaned bedding - sheets, blankets, linens (NO pillows please)
• Toilet paper rolls
• Newspaper
• Muffin pans

The shelter is also seeking additional items on their wish list. Donations can be brought to the Green Summit (10/21), or to the ASFAC (any time during operating hours, Tuesdays through Saturdays).

Cumbre Verde del Departamento de Ambiente

¡Acompañe a su Departamento del Medio Ambiente (DoE por sus siglas en inglés) para un día de actividades divertidas para la familia, consejos ecológicos, servicio comunitario, exhibidores ecológicos, camiones de comida, música y diversión en la 9 Cumbre Ecológica! Regístrese en doesummit2023.eventbrite.com.

 

¡Embólselo Correcto! DoE regalará bolsas reutilizables GRATIS (hasta agotar suministros) para ayudar al público a prepararse para el 1 de enero de 2024, cuando todos los establecimientos comerciales a través del Condado de Prince George serán prohibidos de proveer bolsas plásticas a los clientes, sin excepción, y deben cobrar una tarifa de por lo menos 10 centavos por bolsas de papel o reutilizables proveídas, sin excepción. 

¡Ayude a embellecer el parque! Se exhorta a participantes de todas las edades inscribirse para ayudar a remover plantas invasivas y recolectar basura en los senderos y arroyos en el Parque Comunitario Driskell. Proyectos para todas las edades. Estudiantes pueden recibir horas de servicio comunitario. Voluntarios DEBEN registrarse con la ciudad de Hyattsville.

¡Traer donaciones para nuestro refugio de animales! Los artículos usados en buen estado ayudan a ofrecer a nuestras mascotas adoptables espacios limpios y cómodos con enriquecimiento para ayudar a que sus personalidades brillen mientras esperan su hogar permanente. Los artículos usados aceptados incluyen:

• Ropa de cama limpia: sábanas, mantas, (NO almohadas, por favor)
• Rollos de papel higiénico
• Periódico
• Bandeja para muffins

El refugio también está buscando artículos adicionales en su lista de deseos. Las donaciones se pueden llevar a nuestro evento Cumbre Verde (10/21), o a nuestro refugio de animales (en cualquier momento durante el horario de atención, de martes a sábado).
