The Department of the Environment (DoE) - Resource Recovery Division (RRD) sponsor a Mulch Madness giveaway in the spring to provide County residents with free mulch. The mulch for this event is derived from Christmas trees collected or dropped off for recycling.
The Mulch Madness source reduction event is in conjunction with Earth Day and is just one of the many departmental programs celebrating Earth Month in April!
The Event is for County residents only, proof of residency may be required.
Residents transporting mulch by car must bring their own containers, shovels, pitch forks, and/or tarps to secure/transport the material. A skid loader will be available to load mulch directly into pickup trucks.
Only non-commercial vehicles with a maximum weight of 3/4 tons are permitted. No business vehicle signage will be permitted; all commercial signs should be covered or removed prior to entering the site.
Event will take place at the Prince George's County Organics Composting Facility - 6550 Maude Savoy Brown Rd., Upper Marlboro, MD.
From 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or while supplies last.
