The Healthy Beginnings Program offers services to promote healthy pregnancy outcomes and early health care practices for infants and children. Nurses and support staff provide case management through assessments, interventions
and referrals to help clients relieve the psychosocial and behavioral risk factors associated with poor health and developmental outcomes.
Clients
Any Prince George’s County, Maryland resident who meets the following criteria is eligible for Healthy Beginnings Program services:
- Pregnant women who have a risk factor associated with poor pregnancy outcomes
- Infants and children up to the age of 2 who have risk factors associated with poor health and developmental outcomes.
Fees
No fees are charged for Healthy Beginnings services.
Staff
Staff consists of a team of nurses and administrative support.
Services
Telephonic and home-visiting case management services provided include teaching preventive health practices and self-care measures; counseling on healthy behaviors for all family members; and assisting clients in accessing resources. Referrals to the Healthy Beginnings Program are accepted from individuals, family members, physicians, managed care organizations, health care workers, hospitals, government and community agencies.

Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Excluding holidays
