Family-based Behavioral Treatment
Family-based Behavioral Treatment
Our program is designed for families with children ages 6 to 18, who are overweight or obese. We emphasize healthy eating, physical activity, and positive parenting to empower families to practice new behaviors in a variety of settings so that they can sustain healthy changes long-term.
Timeline
The curriculum will be spread across a 12-month period. Two, 1-hour virtual group classes will be hosted by the FBT interventionist per month.
Mission/Vision
The overall goal of the program is to help families achieve realistic health behavior changes to improve overall health and well-being, and to prevent future health issues.
By the end we plan to see an improvement in:
- Nutrition, physical activity, and associated behaviors.
- Health-related quality of life, including self-esteem.
- Metabolic markers, such as blood pressure, lipids, and insulin sensitivity.
- Parental stress, self-efficacy, and quality of life
