What Are the Requirements for Serving Homemade Baked Goods & Other Cottage Foods?
Each item must be individually wrapped before it leaves the home. Individual plastic bags or plastic wrap is acceptable. A label must be present on each package that has the following information:

- Name and address of the cottage food business
- Name of the product
- Ingredients of the product in descending order by weight, net weight or volume of the product
- Allergen information as specified by federal labeling requirements.
Include on Label
The label must also state in 10 point or larger type, “Made by a cottage food business that is not subject to Maryland’s food safety regulations.” See sample label below.

Nutritional Information
The label must also include nutritional information as specified by federal labeling requirements if any nutritional information claim is made.
