Clarence Moseley Receives Public Service Award

DPIE Director Dawit Abraham, Permit Center Manager Clarence Moseley, DCAO Jared McCarthy

On May 13, 2024, Clarence Moseley, Permit Center Manager, received the Public Service Recognition award for the Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement (DPIE). Only one employee may be nominated per agency during Public Service Recognition Week. The employee selection is based on work performance by an individual who goes above and beyond the scope of their job on a regular basis.

DPIE Director Dawit Abraham (pictured at left) nominated Mr. Moseley (center), who was presented the award by Jared McCarthy, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for Government Operations for Prince George’s County and Acting Director of OHRM. Mr. McCarthy read the qualifying submission during the presentation to Mr. Moseley:

“Director Abraham described Mr. Moseley as a ‘highly responsible and effective manager who ensures the Permit Center is kept open and operating daily. He always maintains self-control and presents a courteous and cooperative attitude to DPIE’s customers. He is a consummate public servant and demonstrates professionalism during interactions with all entities conducting business with the Department and the County. In sum, Mr. Moseley is fully on board with the mission and values of this department and deserves this nomination.'"

Mr. McCarthy included the addendum provided by Mr. Moseley’s supervisor, Assistant Associate Director Karen Spears, who wrote “Mr. Moseley frequently works beyond his official work hours to ensure customers’ permit needs are addressed as quickly as possible. He is a supportive manager who leads with moral integrity and high expectations for excellence. As a result, his staff often receive notes of appreciation from customers for the quality service they receive.”

In addition to the commitment that Mr. Moseley has to the Permit Center, he also volunteers to attend community association meetings after work hours and at a moment’s notice. Mr. Moseley’s commitment to excellent customer service is received by the many customers he assists in the Permit Center and those attending community meetings. When Director Abraham asked Mr. Moseley to accompany him to a meeting on May 13th, Mr. Moseley thought he was going to another meeting. To Mr. Moseley’s surprise, he was honored with a certificate, medal, and appreciation for giving his time, talents, and dedication to DPIE’s customers, Prince George’s County Government, and its citizens. Congratulations to Clarence Moseley!
